Introduction
Are you longing for a Spiritual Gift, but it seems to be progressing at a frustratingly slow pace, making you contemplate giving up? This message is specifically for you.
A major obstacle that causes frustration and anxiety regarding Spiritual Gifts is the harmful habit of “Self Comparison.” Often, people find themselves comparing their progress with established experts in their field of interest. My dear friend, I want you to know that this approach can wear you down. While it’s okay to admire others for motivation, falling into the trap of constant comparison will only break your spirit, leaving you vulnerable to various dangers.
I believe God intends for us to understand how Spiritual Gifts are individually distributed by the Holy Spirit. I am confident that this understanding will bless you profoundly.
The Will of the Spirit
The Holy Spirit bestows Gifts according to His own will, as stated in 1 Corinthians 12:11: “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.”
You cannot influence this process. No amount of shouting, crying, fasting, or praying can change His divine plan. It’s akin to two individuals asking a farmer for oranges. The farmer, at his discretion, decides to give one person a box of ripe oranges while offering the other person orange seeds. As one person happily enjoys the fruits, the other plans to nurture the seeds and eventually cultivate them.
Fully Developed Gifts
Some are instantaneously blessed with fully matured Spiritual Gifts, and they operate proficiently in them. Meanwhile, others go through seasons of rigorous development to mature their gifts.
Impatience often leads people to fall into the trap of self-comparison. This can cause confusion, discouragement, or even push them towards dubious means to expedite their progress and gain recognition.
However, succumbing to this temptation can thwart God’s divine plan for you, leading to destruction and despair. So, it’s crucial to remain patient and stay on the path God has laid out for you.
Waiting might be a challenging and painful process, but in the end, it pays off.
Remember the wisdom in Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV):
“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”
Amen.
