Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have exhausted all physical remedies, yet the challenges persist? The feeling of being stuck with no viable solution can be overwhelming and discouraging. Intrusive thoughts race through the mind, leaving one in a state of despair. However, for those who hold on to hope, the solution is often within reach. In this article, we explore the power of the Scriptures as a source of hope and rejuvenation, surpassing even the expertise of human authorities.
In this article, I will be sharing a Scripture that has filled my heart with great assurance and a powerful sense of victory. I believe that if you grasp it with faith, it has the potential to transform your life too. This Scripture reveals the heart and nature of God, and when you receive it by faith, you align yourself with Him. As a result, the power of the Holy Spirit will move in your life to effect changes. However, it’s crucial to note that hearing the Word alone is not sufficient. You must add faith to it to receive the benefits it provides. According to the book of Hebrews 4:2 NKJV, “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” This verse emphasizes the importance of faith when receiving the Word of God. Without faith, the Word will not profit you. Therefore, it’s essential to receive the Word with a heart full of faith in order to experience its transformative power.
Aligning oneself with the Word is like connecting a house to the grid to receive light. If you use the wrong conductor, the electric power cannot be transmitted to your house, and you continue to live in darkness. Similarly, if you do not align yourself with the Word through faith, you cannot receive its power of transformation. The Word of God is living and active and requires a living and active heart full of faith to receive and benefit from it. Each word of God has the power to deliver on whatever it promises. Therefore, to align oneself properly with the Word, having a heart full of faith is crucial.
When God says that you are healed or blessed, it is important to respond with a resounding “YES” and “Amen” to His Word, regardless of your present circumstances. To respond with doubt or unbelief is to say “no” to God, and this can hinder the Living and Active Word from functioning in your life. It’s like trying to connect to power with a dead wire. In 1 John 4:4 TPT, the Word of God speaks with great boldness, clearing our minds and hearts of all fear concerning our victory over the evil one and all his works.
“Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world.”
In subsequent chapters, we will dissect this truth on three levels:
- As children of God,
- Conquerors by default, and
- Filled with the Holy Spirit and Power.
YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD – YOU BELONG TO GOD
It’s an intense experience to wake up to the most amazing news. The most joyful news in history has been shared with everyone: we are now known to be God’s children.
Although sin separated us from God, there was no place too far away for love to reach. Though we strayed, his loving heart never left us. This compelled him to make the ultimate sacrifice of giving up his child to die in our place to redeem us and provide our redemption through our faith in Jesus.
God did not do this on the spur of the moment; he took pleasure in adopting us as his children. His holy name be praised.
“For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace…” (Ephesians 1: 5 TPT)
This is not breaking news with the world’s most powerful president phoning you and promising to be there for you forever as an adopted child.
You have become a child of God, the owner and creator of everything. He is telling you this through His Word. wow
As if that wasn’t enough, he topped it all off by telling you that he loves you just as much as he loves Jesus Christ.
“ —for the same love he has for the Beloved, Jesus, he has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure!” (Ephesians 1: 5 TPT)“For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace —for the same love he has for the Beloved, Jesus, he has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure!” (Ephesians 1: 5 TPT)
LEGAL RIGHT
We, as children, have been legally adopted and granted full rights. God has taken complete responsibility for us. According to the scripture,
“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12 NLT)
As children of God, we possess complete rights and can use His name for any spiritual or physical transaction.
“…Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are” (John 17: 11 NLT)
What is this name that we can freely and confidently use as children of God?
That is the name JESUS – the name of GOD given to Jesus. We are protected by the power in this name. Not only that, we have full access to use this name for all that we need from God and also to defeat the enemy.
Jesus promised to do for us whatever we ask the Father as Children in his name.
“You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.” (John 14:13 NLT)
Jesus is delighted to answer the prayers you make to God as a child of God.
The name of Jesus is also a sceptre in your hand—authority invested in you to walk in total dominion over the enemy, “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,” (Philippians 2:10 NLT).
HEIRS OF GOD
Jesus, God’s son, declared unequivocally that he is the owner of all things that belong to God. He says “All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.’” (John 16: 15 NLT).
As a child of God, you share in the inheritance of God through Jesus Christ.
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:17 NIV).
This gives us access to all that the Father has.
“And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has—for we are heirs because of what God has done!” (Galatians 4:7 PT).
LIFE OF CHILDHOOD
As a child of God, you possess the nature of God within you, which is characterized by love and righteousness. This is not meant to be a new burden that you have to bear, but rather a call to live out your true identity as an adopted child of God. You don’t have to strive for this because the Spirit of God, your Father, will perfect this in you as you depend on Him.
”In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.” (1 John 3:10 NKJV).
Love is the very essence of our being and our DNA, as our Father is Love. God does not just possess love; rather, He is the embodiment of Love. It can be said that God is Love and Love is God. As a child of God, love should be a way of life for you, and it is what identifies us as belonging to Him. If you truly walk in love, the following fruits will develop in you:
“Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance.5 Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense.6 Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong.7 Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 TPT).
When we choose to love, we meet all the requirements of righteousness, which is the only command that our Heavenly Father has given us.
“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13: 34-35 NLT).
As we choose to love, we will be acknowledged by both light and darkness as the children of God..
Face all obstacles with confidence, knowing that you are a child of God and possess His nature. As your Father is the ruler of all, your union with Him grants you dominion over everything.
Reflection
- Be conscious of your adoption as a Child of God and never let anything make you think otherwise
- God loves you as much as he loves Jesus Christ
- You have received full rights as a child of God to his name and property.
- Your nature is love, just as Father God is.
