Greater is HE That is in You
As a child of God, you are not a mere vessel of flesh existing. This is far from the truth. At no point do you ever even walk alone. Have you ever witnessed the offspring of a world leader walking alone? Such a child will never go without a strong security force. How much more the child of the Creator of all things, both visible and invisible ever be alone? My dear friend, you are exceedingly equipped beyond what a mortal mind can comprehend. How can a mortal – a carnal being – grasp the things of the spirit as stated in 1 Corinthians 2:14? It is not possible. As we delve deeper into this truth, I want you to open your heart and mind to receive what the Spirit has in store for you. You are a child of God, and you carry the DNA of your heavenly Father. This means that you have access to all the resources of heaven, and nothing is impossible for you.
It is evident that Jesus Christ was clear about his agenda when he came to earth. He emphasized that the purpose of satan and his demons is to steal, destroy, and kill. However, it is important to note that the greatest power of satan is the power to kill the flesh, as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:26. The scripture reminds us not to fear the one who can only kill the flesh but not the soul as stated in Matthew 10:28. Jesus Christ did not stop at highlighting what satan can do; he went ahead to counter the power of death born from sin by offering abundant life. This is evident in the big “BUT” that he introduced, which means that despite satan bringing death, he Jesus Christ brings the opposite- abundant life.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10 NKJV).
To put it differently, Jesus Christ made it clear that he came to abolish the era of death and usher in the era of life. He accomplished this by dismantling the works of the evil one.
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3;8 NKJV).
Jesus cured people who were made sick by the enemy, brought back to life those who were killed by Satan, and ultimately sacrificed himself on the cross to permanently defeat the power of death so that life could prevail from that point onwards.
Jesus did not attribute all these mighty works and miracles to himself but to the Father dwelling in him. Who is the Father dwelling in Jesus Christ? The Holy Spirit ( Luke 4:14):
“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” (John 14: 10 NKJV)
Jesus promised us that another Helper, the Holy Spirit, would come to represent him in our lives. He emphasized that the Spirit was already working alongside him and that once he departed, the Spirit would also reside in us. The Holy Spirit is a gift that Jesus gave us to guide us in our daily lives and to bring us closer to God.
“ the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.” (John 14: 17 NKJV).
According to scripture, the Holy Spirit was granted to us on the day of Pentecost, and now resides within every true child of God. However, it is unfortunate that many people have yet to fully comprehend the magnitude of this gift. Apostle Paul recognized this issue and fervently prayed to the Lord, asking Him to open the eyes of his people to receive the revelation of who they had truly received. It is important to note that this prayer was not solely for the church in Ephesus, but it still holds relevance for us today. Thus, it is crucial for us to reach a level of understanding and comprehension of who is dwelling within us, just as the Apostle Paul had emphasized.
“that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your [a]understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power” (Ephesians 1: 17 – 19 NKJV).
In simple terms, it can be said that the Almighty God, also known as the Great I AM, now resides within us as believers. The Holy Spirit is essentially the Spirit of God, part of God’s being. Just as humans have a tripartite nature, consisting of spirit, soul, and body, God is often referred to as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are all one and the same God. This is something that Jesus himself emphasized:
“When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” (John 14:20 NLT)
Through this awesome relationship, we have become one with God. Once again the scripture says in 1 Corinthians 6:17 that “… he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”
Our relationship of oneness with God is truly spectacular and it is made possible through the presence of the Holy Spirit within us.
As I mentioned earlier, Jesus came to defeat the works of the evil one, which includes the power of death – the ultimate weapon of Satan.
According to Apostle Paul, the incredible power within us, known as the Holy Spirit, is the very same power that was unleashed to resurrect Jesus from the dead. “…This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!” (Ephesians 1: 19-20 TPT)
Do you understand this analogy? Let me explain it to you. The power of Satan ends precisely where the power of the Holy Spirit begins. What I’m saying is that you have complete authority over Satan. Have I made myself clear? With the Holy Spirit within you, you have conquered the devil and all of his works, and you can overcome any life challenge that comes your way. Therefore, embrace the reality of the “Holy Spirit – God” within you and remain strong in the face of any obstacle that comes your way in the name of Jesus.
This is why Apostle John wrote this letter to you:
“Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4 TPT)
Dear friends, always keep in mind these words and walk with confidence towards victory. May God bless you abundantly.
Reflection:
- I am in God, God is in me: God and I are one.
- I have total authority over satan and all his works
- The Holy Spirit in me is greater than all who stand against me
