Introduction
If we can all come to the revelation of the enormous power available to believers in the Word of God, we will never turn away from it. You might feel bored when asked to read and meditate on the scriptures because you have not yet encountered the Glory it contains. Dear child of God, if you catch a glimpse of this Glory, nothing on earth can pull you away from it. I am here to explain what the Word of God truly is and the awesome power available for your transformation. This transformative experience will change your life forever. Let’s dive right in.
The Holy Bible
Many of us own the Holy Bible, sometimes in multiple versions and translations, piling up on our shelves. However, you can boast of millions of Bibles but miss the Word of God. The scripture provides historical accounts about the Word of God, but it is not the Word of God itself. The Word of God is not just ink on paper; He is a living being. No matter how many verses you memorize, you could still lack the actual Word of God.
In John 6:63, we learn that it is only the Spirit of God that gives life, not the flesh. Jesus' words are full of Spirit and Life:
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63 NKJV
You can never utilize the power in the Bible until you have the living Word of God. All your efforts to get results with the scriptures will be void until you have the living Word. The Living Word is not on paper; it resides in the heart. Have you ever seen people quoting and praying scriptures over situations but never seeing change? That is an example of lacking the living Word. The living Word manifests as an authority in your heart and proceeds forth with an active power that brings about instant reaction and performance.
What is the Word of God?
I wish I had the language to clearly articulate the meaning of the Word of God as I understand it by the Spirit. It is greater than any mind can conceive, and the glory that comes with it is beyond earthly description. The Word is food for our spirit, soul, and body, and it holds the power to bring about physical and spiritual transformation.
The scripture says the Word is God and was with God in the beginning:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1 NKJV
The Word of God is a living being, as described in Hebrews:
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
Sound, Personality, and Word
In our earthly realm, spoken words are heard through sound waves transmitted to the eardrum, processed as hearing. This has programmed us to generally believe that words are mere sounds. However, even the sound that carries words is tied to the personality of the speaker. When you live with and listen to someone for long, you can identify their voice by just hearing it. Voices have an identity tied to the personality and mannerisms of the speaker.
The Nature of God’s Word
God’s Word has a personality at an advanced state beyond our comprehension, far above the nature of human words. The Word of God is the person of God. God and His Word are one. When God releases a Word, it is actually His person going forth. His Word is the propagation of Himself. Every Word spoken by God has the capacity to perform as it represents. In other words, every Word from God has the same ability as God to do what it speaks about. Thus, a Word from God about healing contains the healing power of God embedded in it.
How to Discover the Word of God
It must be stated clearly that the Word of God is not the same as the Scriptures. The Word is a step higher than the Scriptures. The scripture describes the Word, who He is, and what He does. For you to have the Word, it must be revealed to you by the Spirit of God. Revelation by the Spirit is the step between scripture and the Word of God. Jesus promised that the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, would give us revelation of His Word:
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come." - John 16:13 NKJV
Consider this illustration: the scripture can be likened to a biography of a person. Some people are excellent at knowing the history of others but have never met them in person. To meet the owner of the biography, you need an introduction or be taken there by someone. This is what the Holy Spirit does for us. He reveals the Word of God to us when we meditate on the scriptures.
It may not happen immediately, but every step taken towards the Lord is highly pleasing and rewarded by God. Persistent meditation and proclamation of the scriptures will surely bring the revelation of the Word. The Word will become alive to you, springing forth from your heart when you declare it. This is the living Word that produces miracles, unlike just reciting from memory.
The Word is Christ
Jesus Christ is the Word of God. You may ask why. We learned earlier that the Word functions differently in the realm of God compared to ours. The Word is the propagation or replication of God, implying that the Word is the revelation or manifestation of God unto creation. In all creation, only the Person of Christ is the exact manifestation of God:
"Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, "Show us the Father?" - John 14:9 NKJV
Again, Jesus proclaimed:
"I and My Father are one." - John 10:30 NKJV
Whenever God wants to do anything by thought or speaking, Christ manifests to make the action take place by the power of the Holy Spirit. God does all things with Christ, and without Him, nothing can be done. Jesus Christ is the literal "doing" part of God:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." - John 1:1-3 NKJV
Therefore, when you act on the scriptures by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Word - Jesus manifests to cause the request to be fulfilled for you:
"And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." - John 14:13-14 NKJV
Conclusion
I believe you can now distinguish between the Scriptures and the Word of God, who is Jesus Christ Himself. All scriptures point to Christ, which is why scripture is often called the Word of God. However, you must understand that scripture without revelation is inactive and not the living Word - Jesus Christ. The living Word is the revelation of the scriptures by the Holy Spirit, and it resides in the hearts of believers. By the living Word, miracles, healing, breakthroughs, and more take place. Therefore, seek the living Word of God.
God Bless You
