Introduction
When you think of holiness, what comes to mind? Perhaps you envision a state of moral perfection, an unattainable standard, or a burden of endless rules. Many have been so long exposed to the concept of self-effort holiness that they shy away from it due to past failures.
I am here to reintroduce holiness to you from the perspective of Father God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
If you see holiness from the perspective of God, you can’t help but leave all behind and pursue it with all your being.
Revelation of God’s Holiness
“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy.'" (1 Peter 1:15-16 NKJV)
The scripture reiterates that God is holy, and the seraphim who surround Him profess the same:
“And one cried to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!’” (Isaiah 6:3 NKJV).
In 1 Peter 1:16, we see God inviting us again to His likeness: "Be holy, for I am holy."
God's Perspective on Holiness
When I longed to understand the concept of holiness, God simply told me to share with everyone that He does not intend to burden us with good works but longs for us to be like Him. Holiness from the perspective of God is not by giving you a set of rules to obey but by conforming to His image and likeness.
Children take the DNA and likeness of their parents. Otherwise, questions arise. This is our relationship with God; the rationale is for us to be like Him if we are His children. If you do not have the likeness of your father in any way, you are probably for some other man. As sons and daughters of God, we are like Him - God.
Prophetic Vision
With the eyes of faith, I see the heavenly realms and the saints clothed in the purest of white. I see a white smoke blowing around. Whenever it blows on the beings, their garments are renewed to become purer, and from within the beings emanates a sweet-scented aroma of God’s glory. “This is the spirit of holiness” I hear the Lord speak repeatedly, and “I am inviting all who care to come and partake of it. You will certainly be filled and hunger no more, for you are filled with me. I am Life, so are all that belong to me. What I give is my Life, my Holiness”.
How to Attain Holiness
Holiness is not acquired by what we do or fail to do; it is a gift of God through the finished work of Christ on the cross. What is the component of this gift of holiness? God. God does not have holiness; He is the embodiment of holiness.
The purity of holiness in the vision here is beyond anything any man can do or ever do to acquire it. Flesh cannot attain this level. That is why we received it as a gift from God. However, for us to receive this gift and continue in it, as in the vision, we need to receive Christ as our saviour and genuinely continue walking in the light of salvation.
The Impact of the Gift of Holiness
If you willingly go back into sin, you are taking yourself out of alignment with the holiness of God. What does this gift do to us? We are transformed by holiness to live holy. When this glorious spirit enters us, it does not remain stagnant unless you are unwilling to surrender and yield to Him. The Holiness of God is light that casts away darkness anywhere it can be found in us. Your perception and choices begin to change to be more Christlike. No one is threatening you to make any decision, but by divine choice, you no longer have an appetite for certain things you used to enjoy.
The Fragrance of Holiness
Holiness is a fragrance of Christ we give off as children of God. In 2 Corinthians 2:15 NKJV, we read, “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”
Conclusion
Have you seen the beauty of holiness? It is not about how well you follow a set of strict rules but about how transformed you are into the image of Christ by the Spirit of God dwelling in you. It is no longer about trying so hard to be but yielding and surrendering to become. This is how simple it is to walk in the Holiness of God.
When you just focus on the rules of God and beat yourself so hard to live it to the letter, it becomes burdensome and weighty on you, and self-effort will eventually lead you into frustration, fear, and eventually giving up. Jesus Christ promised us a burden that is light (Matthew 11:30), so do not make things cumbersome for yourself. The key is believing in Christ as saviour and yielding to Him.
God Bless You
